Bob,

The tailgate is correct for the body. I picked one of these up from Narembeen WA a few years ago when I was restoring my C15. It takes a bit of jiggling to get the swinging lock pin in its correct alignment !

The tailgate has the moon shaped cutouts which can be used as steps when the tailgate is down and it should also have small rounded rectangular cutouts on either side, presumably to allow following vehicles to see the tail/stop lights when the tailgate is down and flapping. An interesting but somewhat impractical notion.
