With the hull number you may be able to narrow the range of the carrier serial number which would help date it for you. there are a couple of registers out there that compare hull and serial numbers.

Mike could you post the links to these registers as they would be useful to know as this is an area which would help a lot of folk who have cut front armour. Its also something I would want in my book.
