Without a little more detail it is not going to be easy, if at all, to find much of this man.
I have had a look around and have found very little that would definitely connect to an officer by that name.
There are a number of personnel by the name of Moran listed on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial, and one by the name of Edward. But.... he was a private in the Perth Regiment and died in May 1944 in the Cassino area.
In the spring of 1944 there would have been literally thousands of men in the south of England, many of them heading for the "bright lights" of London if they got chance.
A possibility is using the area of the birth in question to try and track down any Canadian units that might have been in the same area, but it is only an off-chance.
