Default The price of a CMP

This is a subject of some interest to me and looking at the archives of the old Melbourne Argus newspaper I found this image

Original copy:
Pupils of Victorian State Schools contributed 1150 pound out of their own pocket money to purchase this truck for a R.A.A.F. Mobile Educational Unit. [picture]
Date(s) of creation: [ca. 1945]
photograph : gelatin silver ; 17.0 x 22.0 cm. approx.
Reproduction rights: State Library of Victoria.
Accession Number: H99.201/2219
Image Number: an002880

The question is was 1150 pounds the whole value or an approximate amount?

It's on the Victoria archives
