Shit you were lucky. I hate the 9" at the best of times. It's alright for cutting a bit of angle or plate but I feel much happier with the 3" for bolts and stuff, or one of those reciprocating saws.
Guess that's why Telstra threw all the 9" grinders in the scrap bin.
