Default Re:- Stray Canadian

Than k you for your kind comments Geoff, they are appreciated.

There is a saying here - "What goes around, comes around" and it can be read in a number of ways.

I too have been in receipt of "old world" courtesy as you put it, and was also grateful for it.

The family got themselves under way after 10.00 am and we managed to get them up to the viewing point before the weather closed in again (Summer?? - we have not had one this year yet, in comparison to last year). My wife and I then took them down on to what we call the Coast Road, and bid them farewell.

They are here in Northern Ireland for another few days and are then heading back to the mainland and from there - who knows? Mike did say that they were thinking of going back to France and to the Somme. I pointed him in the general direction of Albert and Bapume (I was there 2 years ago) and a Canadian memorial there.

It also turns out that one of his ancestors was lost with HMS Hood. He did give me the name, but it escapes me for the time being.

Here is hoping that they successfully complete their travels and return home safely.

Paul.

P.S. The surname is spelt Reed. If anyone does know of them, I will pass any messages onto them. Please contact me via PM.
