A little known add on .. they were originally intended to have a PTO driven generator .. run from the gearbox ... to charge the wireless batteries ... you can see the hole in the floor to acomodate the on-off lever . This idea was similar the British wireless vehicles which used the PTO gene setup with a charging panel to switch the system .
In practice it seems none of them were actually fitted out with the PTO generator and they went for the briggs and stratton stand alone gene instead .. maybe the supply of the large PTO DELCO generators was slow to arrive from Nth America .
I don't think many of them left Australia . Has anyone got any pics of them up in the Islands ? A ham radio op was killed in one up near Bandiana when the truck rolled over ....
