From what I have seen on TV the 'Glasshouse' at Colchester Barracks has a similar routine except that inmates practise weapons drill, etc. There are however more inmates and each dorm as it were competes with the others to get the fantastic award of the radio! However, if you fall foul you can get extra days added-on, and even on discharge it is possible to not pass muster and get extra days.

It seems that some prisoners are there because of drugs offences, and that that route is seen as a way out of the services (it being a joint service detention centre).

From experience though many squaddies are sent to civvy prisons.
