I got a stack of them I "borrowed" from the oil refinery when I was working there, I drill a hole in the tag and weld it on through the hole so it looks like a spot weld.

Thanks Jeff (and others). This is just what I need.

I also like the idea of water blasting - I have a Bosch high pressure cleaner but the blasting attachment isn't available here in Australia. I do however have a friend with a Honda petrol powered pressure cleaner so I'll look into getting an attachment for that.
