Do some searches on the whole forum about insurance. There have been many "ideas" put forth about getting insurance but in the end it is really driver be aware as no company in Ontario wants to touch these vehicles. The other problem is that the MTO has no proper catergory for the UC. Therefore you can't get a license. This means no insurance and because you can't get insurance you can't get a license. Telling your insurance company it is a farm tractor will get you covered but when they get the collision report from the police and see that it really isn't a tractor, guess what? They pull the policy and leave you hanging because you did lie.
Mine has only ever been on the roads for parades. I make sure that I take all reasonable precautions (have a crew commander) and that the vehicle is well maintained. I also don't give rides unless I really know the people. I did look at getting a personal liability plan for myself but it wasn't foolproof. A friend's familiy has an insurance company and he looked into it and basically said just be careful.
