Wouldn’t there be
more space there than in a regular Sherman? The chain case doesn’t sit as far forward as the ammo rack that had to be removed to accommodate it, so maybe they found that a radio will fit in the remaining space? Or some of the other stowage forward of the original ammo rack was also removed, but in the case it wouldn’t need as much removing as on a normal Sherman.
