Hi Tony the middle one was used on 1942 Ford V8 engines in Australian (and other) Carriers They stopped the engine getting dusted. As you would know, a good engine sucks air in via the (useless) horse hair packed breather, on the right of your photo. This lets the dust in as well until the engine starts blowing out the breather.
So I assume the cab 12 have a captive nut arrangement in the top of the upstand? I cant recall seeing one like that.
