Some axles have two seals and some only have one. They all have an inner seal. When there are both seals (and I recommend fitting an outer seal pair, if you dont have them) In this case, the diff oil can travel the axle tube, but should be stopped at the outer seal. The bearings are grease packed and the inner seal only has the grease to contend with. This makes it unlikely that you will get oil on the linings. Make sure the tell tale hole is clear.
