Default Engineers and the London Blitz

Much has been chronicled of the exploits of the Engineers throughout the world during WWII, but little has been covered of their duties on the Home Front. The London Blitz kept Engineers hopping to repair the damage done by German bombs to the buildings, streets, bridges, and subways. Here is a picture of a 150' long box girder bridge erected by R.E.s over a large crater created January, 1941 when a german bomb penetrated the street and exploded in the Bank Tube ticket station below.
