Default folkestone

Yes just down the road. My uncle was involved in mine clearing around the Folkestone and Hythe area just after the war, but this is 1953 around the Folkestone Warren area so presume that this area was still being cleared 8 years later. The Warren was use as a training ground during the war and on the beach they had a tank (I think a Valentine) for target practice. The only sign of the war now are the Dragons Teeth and other defenses that were dumped at the foot of Copt Point.
There was another training ground now under the Channel Tunnel site where they had a Carrier and a couple of cars as a targets. The army fired Piat's at them and the Home Guard Blacker Bombard's which we used to find bits of as kids. The only part of the Carrier I found was half a wheel. I wish I had looked a bit harder.
