King himself was roundly booed by Canadian troops during a visit to them in England.
BTW, Donald Jack does a WONDERFUL job of portraying King doing walkies/consultations with his dog and mummy in the book HITLER VS ME. It's the last of a long series which is near and dear to me (I have them all).

He was an opportunistic conniving political animal who cared less about Canada's troops in battle. Indeed, one of his Cabinet Ministers, Ralston, (Minister of Defence) was roundly and enthusiastically booed during an address to Canadian troops on the Continent.
We, as a colony, are not, in hindsight, amused.
