This has been a question for me for a long time as well, see

Thankfully, Anthony came up with the answer:
- Click on Post Reply
- Type you text
- Click on the paperclip button on the tool bar above the Message window
- The popup screen Manage Attachments opens: select your picture and click on Upload and then Close this window
- Click on the paperclip button again and a small window will pop up for you to click on the insert (all) button.
Try it for yourself a few times, I can always delete your tests.
