Default A Don Smith Moment. Carol spears a truck.

An old friend, who also knew Don, sent this. An archive shot from Vintage Toronto, along with the newspaper caption. Never a dull moment around him. We were in Grade 3 together. Would have loved to listen in on this conversation. Knowing Don, and looking at the cops puzzled face....it probably went along the lines of....."Well Officer...you'll have to send the ticket to DND... it's a Military vehicle, and I'm just the driver "..
Sorry he's gone..he was one of a kind.

CANADA - SEPTEMBER 04: Explaining away a tank crash. A 24;000-ton Sherman tank of World War II vintage that had been on display at CNE accidentally gunned down a mail truck yesterday outside the Coliseum. Constable Leo Bond investigated the accident. Donald G. Smith of the Military Technology Museum was taking the tank back to the Dennison Armory when a postal truck ran into a cannon projecting from the tank at right angles and the truck windshield smashed.
