Owning a replica is not a criminal offense. However, making, buying, or importing one without the proper license (ie museum, movie) is a criminal offense. So is improper storage and transportation. They have to be locked up just like a restricted weapon at home, and transported in a similar manner.

None of the above rules apply to deactivated guns. Importation of those is a bit of a catch-22 though.

Agree with Terry on this one. Settle for either a deactivated British Sterling (expect to pay from $1500-$2000 +++. ) or else buy an airsoft. I looked into the Sterling Airsofts and I think you will have to order it with the "booster" kit. To legally enter the country and not be considered a replica, it must shoot over 365 feet per second in order to cause bodily harm.

One other alternative is to purchase the Sterling Police Carbine. They are restricted only, and there are 50 or so in Canada. They can be had for between $4K to $5.5K when you can find them. However, you will then have the permit problems with where you might like to take it to display it.
