Further thoughts: It's for the Wireless Set No.62 - the two elongated slots are for the rubber-bodied two pin power connectors (good luck finding any of
those), and it has two sockets so that you can connect a charging set without having to disconnect the wireless set (although I assume the set would be switched off while the battery is being charged). Charging sets would be either the 80 watt petrol generator or the 60-watt pedal-driven unit. There's a backpack for this or the 22AH battery: Carriers, Battery, No.7 or 7T for the tropicalised version (I think). Pity it's missing the connectors and wiring, though those would have to come off in order to remove the cells when it was scrapped. There was a later pressed-steel cased version of this battery (of course).
