Lots of repros on the market these days, I suppose with the very inflated price of genuine badges pushing the $500 US range it makes it attractive to find and sell the repros.
NOTE:
The original die for the late war/post war variety (#2) is still alive and well in the UK and making BRAND NEW restrikes. A couple of months ago these started showing up on Ebay. UK. They are currently being sold for what they are, "restrikes" but a few years from now who knows what some unsuspecting person will make of them.
I bought one as a sample for my archives and they are actaully a very well made badge!? Seems to be good, solid brass (unlike the common gilding metal variety like Hanno posted) but with a slider not lugs, this is the big tip off that it is new (and not genuine). Pic attached.
