The C5A1 version of GPMG was after the M38 left service. It would have been the M1919A4 as Ed mentioned, or else the C1 GPMG. Technically, there was no C5....they went to the C5A1 nomenclature so as not to confuse the modified C1 GPMG (which would have had the new model number C1A1) with the FN service rifle.

Officially, the mounts would have been the US pattern M31C stand and cradle. It was not until the 70s that the M38A1 CDN style Z arm came out for the later Jeeps.

The M31 mounts languished in weapons shops and QMs until the mid 80s. I do not have a date when they were officially disposed of.
