Default Forum member on epic drive

Many will remember last year when MLU Forum member, Lang Kidby drove a 1940 Australian Dodge staff car from Jordan to UK and Normandy for the D-Day anniversary. He has now embarked on a much more adventurous escapade along with an Australian friend of mine, Warren Brown, a mv collector, who accompanied me on the Normandy Tour, where this latest event was hatched out.
(military content of message!)

These two have organised and are taking part in, a re-enactment of the 1907 Peking to Paris car race. They have of course, chosen the winning car, an Itala, to drive themselves. Five cars took part originally and those in this re-run are authentic in age and type except for one, which is a replica of a Contral 3 wheeled cyclecar.

So far they have been on the road for about six days and from reports, it has been an eye opening adventure. The two month long event is being filmed by ABC tv for a tv series. The exact route is being taken and they are at present somewhere around the Mongolia border. One report said that the Chinese army had been tailing them!
