The recurrent interest in the SS Thistlegorm led me to look over some of the websites regarding this wreck. In many of the pics, I can't help but notice the dozens of new tyres, both loose and fitted to vehicles. Did I read somewhere that seawater is actually a good preservative for natural rubber as found in old tyres? How many other shipwrecks must be around with their holds full of new tyres?
