I can see the advantages to having both weapons . 1500m is still substantial and in bush , more than you need with a long range tap on the shoulder available should open space be found. Not to mention urban environments etc etc and the need for the bullet to stop sometime after hitting its soft target. The .50 is boss for punching through lightly armoured defenders and across valleys like it did in Afganistan . Just like my garage , different tools to fit the job, not Just one big hammer to do them all
My question is, does the DND use its snipers solely in one role, IE specialist with the .338 and specialist with the .50 or do they crosstrain and become equivalent snipers in both weapons? If so does the sniper have 2 weapons assigned to him, leaving one in the closet so to speak, or does he draw the weapon he needs when assignment is looming?
