These generators were made in fair numbers, so not experimental . I think it was a afterthought , maybe manufactured and issued after the sets had been in use for some time .

The 510 set was interesting because although designed and manufactured in Aust., I have read that , it was also issued to British, New Zealand and I believe South African signals units.

I recall talking to a ham who was in the CMF in the 1950's, he told me he would take ham band xtals along on his army camps and he would use the army 510 set for unofficial radio work .
