Burma Dodge article and manual

A few of these rare trucks have been found here . The ex Belfield example is now in OHIO in the USA under restoration. Why were they made RHD ?

Erm, the clue is in the title. Burma Dodge, Burma Road, wasn't Burma part of the British Empire at the time, or was it the Commonwealth by then?

These trucks use the 331 cu in straight six like Rick Jones' RAF bus, and he and Charles are helping each other out I believe.

Very interesting site! New info further to the article in Wheels & Tracks magazine.

First time I see a maintenance manual which was published by the US Treasury Department Procurement Division. That and the Chinese Captain stationed at the Chrysler Corporation engineering laboratory in Detroit to study vehicle repair, gives the impression the US military were not involved on any level!

Great stuff.

I wonder what became of the nationalist Chinese captain based in Detroit... During the war the Nationalists and Mao's communists had a sort of truce going ..in order to beat the Japs ... but all sorts of treacherous behaviour went on and they were more or less fighting each other more than the Japs I think.

There may be a few of those trucks in Burma today. One made it to Tasmania of all places , working with the Peters Ice cream company .

This could be the Burma Dodge that was seen by us on a club trip in Shepparton years ago. Nagambie is close by.
