Wireless Set No. 19 Mk II
This is a hybrid Mk II Wireless Set No. 19, with an odd history.
I purchased it in the late 1970’s and at the time it was fitted in a wooden chest, similar to a Bren Gun Box , but chunkier, with a fold down front panel. The set could be operated from within this chest with holes in it allowing access for aerial cables battery cables. I think there might have been flat brass chains at either side which held the front panel horizontal when opened, but do not quote me. The chest was so badly dry rotted the hardware fittings got really loose and after nursing the chest through several house moves, it was tossed. Some Canadian Army and Crown Assets paperwork still in the chest at the time confirmed the main pieces of the set were the ones in use at the time the set was sold off. This paperwork also disappeared over time. About 2/3’s of the set is American made, the rest Canadian, but most of it has Canadian Acceptance stamp markings.
I was eventually going to get it running again as an interesting example of a base station Mk II set, but eventually switched my thinking to making it a wartime jeep installation set mounted on the right side rear fender and started collecting the missing pieces towards that goal. Time to let it go now, however.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I am asking $1,365.00 Cdn for what you see on the bench, plus the two aerial connectors from set to bases that are hiding behind the set. I will also add in a Crystal Calibrator with 12=Pin Dog Bone.
