When I bought my F15a 20 years ago, all the instruments were broken. As a first solution, I used the temperature gauge from a boiler. And the fuel gauge from a jeep.
Later, I bought a temperature gauge from LWD, which didn't work. That's why I'm still using the VAILLANT instrument. I am aware that the fuel gauge from WILLYS does not work with the sensors from FORD. What modern alternatives are there? My FORD is from 1944, has round instruments and still runs on 6 volts. I would like to continue using the original sensors. What experiences have you had with other gauges? Regards Andreas |

Keeping the original sender units , makes it a hard problem to solve.
With the fuel gauge , you could buy a nos civilian gauge , like this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/29611872...ynydbJhkBXieyG Remove the bezel / glass from your jeep gauge, and remove the internals, then trim down the civilian gauge , or make a new black face for it , and install it inside the Jeep gauge body. It's a Australian seller , the AU dollar has been gaining value recently , a few months ago, it was more of a good deal.

I gave up on fuel gauges working two trucks ago, all my trucks have sticks for checking the fuel. my standard practice on trips is to let one run dry and switch to the other on the fly and then stop at the first available gas station.
As for temperature I always use mechanical gauges. |

Andreas,
This vendor in California has new temperature sending units. Note, there are two types available. Apparently, some Fords had two sending units, one for each head. The 80 year old original sender units are very likely to be faulty and unreliable, the contact points inside them will probably be oxidized or pitted . If you can manage to remove the temperature sending unit from your F15A, you can bench test it with a multimeter and a heat gun. https://cwmoss.com/products/temperat...tE58dOrMREh1zO https://cwmoss.com/products/temperat...3M8ic03PgdXD1V
