WW11 Jerry Can Bracket ?

Gentlemen again: I was cleaning up and sorting out the dreaded "stuff" around here. I came across a Jerry can bracket from one of my old jeeps. I never noticed it before, but I found a serial number stamped in the front of the bracket. No other markings. The serial number is 42-B-22590. Can anyone shed any light on this. I've never seen one before. Cheers...Robert
