Default For Our Aussie Mates

Just wanted to let you know that while you're wallowing in the misery of mid-winter down there, we're sweltering up here. The last week in Toronto has been hell-on-earth - mid 30s in temperature but corrected for humidity, mid-forties. With no air conditioning, we're dying up here... and I feel especially sorry for our poor cats who have to walk around all day in fur coats. The only relief they get is early mornings and late evenings out on the deck, but those times are plagued with roving raccoons, who also come out to play (I'd love a silenced .22 pistol right about now).

Anyway, I know you're suffering right now, but so are we - misery loves company?

Cheers,

Jif

Default Misery

Well winter is really not too bad here Jif, particularly if you compare it with a Canadian one. You could always put on a pair of gauntlets, a fencing mask and other protective body armour and shave the poor cats.
That heat you're getting sounds a lot like Melbourne in late summer when the humidity sets in, really most unpleasant.
Current temp in Melbourne at 4AM is just under plus 12C, relative humidity 82% and we're expecting more rain over the next few days, and no, I don't want to swap.

winter here is sunny blue skies and 23C to 26C during the day and down to around 9C at night. Only additional clothing for poor ol' me is long pants a pair of socks and a woolen jersey. Must admit though during last months trip to Gosford in New South Wales it also included woolen long sleeve shirt and woolen thermal longjohns plus a beanie (woolen hat) plus my old combat jacket and I still froze early in the mornings till the sun came out!

I think you need to come back for another visit Jiff.

Sure the nights are cold (for Australia, not Canada). But the days have been absolutely beautiful. Sunny and not a cloud in the sky.

The days we have been getting rain are actually quite mild and the rain has been coming at exactly the right time and in the right amounts. Looks like being one of those georgeous spring's we get in normal years this year.

The Riverina turns into Gods country from September to November. Will post some photo's if it does.

Damned right I need to get back there, Tony! It's been three years now, too bloody long! A lot of water under the bridge since then, so we'll see what happens. I've been a busy boy, but I miss you lot and your magnificent land!
