Default CMP C60L Wrecker CES info

Hi

Would anyone have a list of CES equipment meant to be carried by WW2 wreckers in British/REME hands, especially for a C60L CMP wrecker with Holmes crane etc. Mainly looking at A Frames, strops, chains, anything else for vehicle recovery that would be carried in western desert campaign.

Regards

Gary

Does this help? From the draft of volume 1 of "Drive to Victory". The text is;

Operational Role - Used by RCEME Workshops and LADs for the recovery and towing to repair areas of the lighter types of vehicles and guns

Body details - 4D1 (Cab 12) 4G1 (Cab 13)

Variants - Composite wood and steel construction body. Fitted with a Holmes W45CE Wrecker set. Wrecker unit has two swinging booms with two separate power operated winches. With booms locked together at rear, a pull off the rear of the vehicle can be made with either or both winches. When booms are swung to side, the line from one winch is used to anchor the unit to the ground by ground anchor or convenient post or tree while the other winch is used to lift from the opposite direction. ‘V’ type towing bars are located at the rear which are placed between the wrecker and the vehicle being towed in order to prevent collision. Each cable is 3/8-inch diameter steel and are 100-feet in length. There are equipment lockers located on each side above the rear wheels to carry tools and equipment and has an open centre bin for storage of miscellaneous stores/equipment. Tires: 10.50x20

Variants -

Quantity - 216 (both Gar-Wood and Holmes)

Default Illustrated Body Parts List

There is some information in the Illustrated Body Parts List D.N.D Special Patterns Bodies listed under Holmes Wrecker and Miscellaneous.

Grant what is the availability of reprints of that book at this time?

Cheers Phil
