Bonjour Luc
Translation for Maple Leaf Up'ers Good day ay!As a coincidence,I'm building a copy of the tank "Bomb"I have the regimental decals & am buying a map making pen to write the name on the side plus the C111 on the front lower armour. Not transcribed beow If you take a C-15CWT Italeri,The roof has to be glued on plus the doors. But if left off, plus sprue for the back deck,a passable Indian Portee can be had: Garry Shipton |

Hi Guys,
I'm the IPMS Ottawa newsletter editor and I was wondering what show you are referring to? If you could post some details I'll have them in the next issue. Cheers! Dana

Hi - I'm a new member - Although British I am interested in Canadian military vehicles ( My wife's cousin in Victoria is a Royal Canadian Artillery veteran of WW2)
Following this thread I thought you may like to see a pic of my CMP 15cwt modified from an Italeri gun tractor, I've also modified one to a long wheelbase 6pdr anti-tank portee.

Hi Luc. It's not that easy to actually describe it. In the Italeri gun tractor kit you also get the parts for the truck cab, just leave off the roof and either leave out the doors like I did or cut them down, also cut down the cab rear.
The body is built from plastic card ( from most hobby shops) cut using a set of drawings copied from an official manual that shows all the body types. This is then just glued onto the chassis . Here's the long wheelbase portee

Luc, just for your info I've scanned the doc. that gave me the body info. It came originally from an official manual so I hope I'm not breaking copyright by attaching it here; if so I appologise to whoever . Many of the restorers using this site probably have more info than I have.

Hi Alex, I don't have the original manual - I have about 5 pages for CMP body stiles and 2pdr/6pdr portees that were sent to me in response to a request for information. I beleive that they were sent by a small model manufacturer.
If you care to send me your email address then I'll forward the pages that I have.

Mark, The truck is in the markings of Princess Louises' Dragoon Guards. It was in a pretty grotty photo, and I'm afraid that I've only assumed that it belonged to the same unit as the rest of the ones in the pic.
I try and complete each model in diferent unit markings so that I end up with a good representation of the formations present in WW2. My quad & 25pdr are in the markings of 15th Field Regt. RCA, 4th Armoured Div ( my Wifes' cousins' unit), and my Staghound in the markings of the Manitoba Dragoons when serving with Canadian 2nd Corps (this model is featured on Accurate Armours web-site)

I've been working on "Bomb" for two & a half days now.All assemblies, turret, hull & undercarriage complete & prepped for painting.I looked thru the paint selections & "voila",found the closest color for dark olive drab, which I previously painted a Bristol Beaufighter a few years back. The color is
Humbrol extra dark sea grey item#HX6_enamel.The color is actuaally dark green & it matches closely to Canadiaan army WW2 vehicle color requirements. It is much darker than say Testor's OD.Anyone else out there aware of this Color?.Now going after a jeep.universal carrier & FAT plus limber & 25 pounder.I'm on a roll.Only problem is I can't see too well after all the tiny parts, even with modeler magnifying glasses. |

hey gary,
did you take some time for eating???hehehe.Don't know that color. It's discontinued i think.I have the humbrol color chart wich show all the color available and can't see that reference number. good project on the workbench! For my part i have received friday the conversion set from accurate armour to build a turretless recce stuart, all in resin. Can't wait to start the project....

Being of US manufacture, the Sherman tank was painted US Olive Drab. US vehicles were not repainted for Commonwealth service, except after going through a major rebuild. Hanno |

Hanno,Gone with O.D.green per your thread.Question? My ultra cast decal sheet has two recognition white stars inside the circle. In action where would "Bomb" have them displayed. The photo in Dr.Greggs' book is post war without the stars.Where do I put them.I'm building the sherman in service, thereby they wud presumably be on the top of the turret to the left of the commander's hatch & on the rear deck but this would have been cluttered with personaal baggage & supplies.By the way,my C-15 CMP is on the same table undergoing female induced repairs.I was thinking of inking "HANNO"on the front bumper cause you have the REAL CMP.
