I need to order or make a pair, I know that citroen do a can that is quite close, but looking at them they need some time consuming modifications...
What are you using ? I now know the can diameter is 6" and the length is 16.5" but where do the inlets and outlets go ? Are they offset or centered ? What dia is the inlet and outlet etc etc etc....... So many questions Pics always help too :-) ![]() ![]()

Richie,
Do you have a Powerflow dealer near you? I had them make me a full stainless system for my V8 Series2A Land Rover a few years ago. I just told them what kind of volume and sound I wanted where I wanted the pipes routing and one day later it was all done and installed with two small round silencers tucked up next to the chassis rails. They have an exhaust part 'parts book' with every oddball silencer, trim, connector you can imagine.

Rich, there are people who can tell you about the inlet/outlet.
I have a pair at home but have no info with me over here in Aussie. Someone should chime in.

Hello Richard,
Think theres a pair of silencers on my carrier. How can i help? there is an exhaust manufacturer near us, could see if i can get some made, would there be enough demand to have a batch done? John |

I have managed to work out the rough dimensions, I was just curious as to what people were using.... The original cans are hard to get hold of, and there are plenty of us around the globe now who have carriers... I could fab up stainless cans and Tig weld them but it would be time consuming, I know Citroen Saxo cans have been used in the past but the ones I have seen online would need some hefty mods.... Again time consuming
Pending on costs I may be interested in some being made exact repro... It would save me the hassle of modding, or making some (means that time could be placed elsewhere on the carrier)

Why use stainless? I've been told stainless runs hotter and may cause trouble with the manifold cracking, and exploding. I've been told this happened to a gmc that had a full stainless system.
Back in my mk2 golf days you couldn't put a full stainless system on without changing the manifold for stainless too, so i guess this was for the same reason. For that reason i stick to steel pipes on my exhausts. |

Stainless for the cans and the pipes under the carrier, the down pipes are mild steel onto the manifolds.... The exhausts won't get hot enough to cause issues... I have ran stainless on performance engines that used cast manifolds without issue. And that was mounted to a T3 turbo running 20 psi.... The thing used to glow !!!
It's just a thought at this stage matey

Hi, rich, if you like I can visit motor factors to see if they have the same style as before, buy them then post them up to you?. As you know I have the receipt with part numbers.
Regards Kevin.

Kev don't put yourself out, but if you are passing that way, it is an option too.

Not familiar with UC exhaust systems but it may be worth inserting a flexible section in the engine pipes whether stainless or not. I do this with my Dodge WCs as the system is rigidly mounted which I expect is the case with the UC. It just helps to know you are not putting undue strain on the manifold coupling.
