In the course of my HUP restoration, I have come across some really restorer-friendly shops in the Ottawa area. My relationship is strictly that of a customer and I recommend these business names because of the high level of satisfaction I received from their services and products. The intent is not to overtly adverstise these businesses, but to compile and publish a list of resources in the Ottawa area for other restorers to exploit. Please feel free to add to the list.
Glass - Speedy Auto Glass on St. Joseph Blvd in Orleans - cut and replaced my broken windscreens. Great prices. Fast service. Owner is interested in CMPs (has Dr. Gregg's books at the store). Springs - Malmbergs - off St. Laurent Blvd in Ottawa - new main springs - contact John at the spring shop (night shift). Fast service at a great price. Welding - Wright's Welding in North Gower - A busy shop, but they do great work at reasonable rates. Military Surplus - The Wright Stuff - Reeve Craig Road North off Dilworth - Greg has some battle dress uniforms, loads of web gear and other items including some WWII kit. Historical Advice - Swords and Ploughshares Museum - Kars - Mike has plenty of CMP examples that can be measured/photoed etc for copying. Outdoor storage possibilities! Visit Calnan.com for contact info - call before you go! I am looking for any recommendations for the following services in the Ottawa area: - Machine shops that repair axle shafts and does master cylinder resleeving; - Wood bending for circular roof hatch spacers; - Wiring looms; and - Metal casting (door hinges etc...) Additional details about the abovementioned business can be obtained thru PM. Cheers Rob
