Hi all,
just wondering if many were going to the MVPA show in Duluth this year?

That's pretty much how Don Trueman described it - anything and everything for the Jeep guys, also for Dodge fans. He and Jeff H. picked up a bunch of goodies. I'm not sure what Gord brought back, if anything. I'd like to have gone with the Land Rover just for the trip, but #@$# boss said I couldn't be spared for the time off. I'm sure I could have got a good deal on lights, gauges and speedos I need for my '45 HUP project.

There were about a half dozen or more of the prairie command guys there. Also ran into a couple of the Alberta guys. and met up with John Bizal and got to see his very nice MK1 carrier which was on display. Dirk Derin and myself stayed from Thursday until Saturday, and had a great time. Duluth is a very touristy and neat city; who would have though?
Probably the best buy there was the demilled 25 and 524 radio sets at about $100 each. Seems like you can find all the trays, AMUs, and assorted cables up here, but the radios are far and few between. And when you bring them accross the border with you, customs doesn't seem to care; they never even charged us duty or GST. Next years convention is in Dayton Ohio, a 17 hour drive past duluth. I'll likely go back; question is whether I try and take the carrier down so John's Cdn vehicle isn't all alone. Matt: I heard you were about, but I never ran into you. I guess that just shows the magnitude of the convention. |
