Default Chevrolet CMP 15 cwt Lorry

I have an Italeri 1/35 sclae kit of this vehicle and I want to build it as a British lorry in North West Europe in 1944.
Were they in service then?

I also have a Chevrolet CMP Gun Tractor - same question.

Are there any good books or websites with pictures of these?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Roger
