Canadian Ford T8 tankdestroyer?
Hello,
I am looking for a picture of the peculiar Ford T8 Gun Motor Carriage. This was basically a Ford 4x4 "swamp buggy", where driver sat rear next to engine. It mounted a 37mm AT gun. I think it was designed in 1941 and a small number may have been built (15?) before a US army order was cancelled (the army problably had switched by then to Dodges M6). Does anybody have more info on this interesting vehicle and does anybody have a picture? Kind regards, Nuyt Last edited by nuyt; 07-05-04 at 19:14. |

Canadian Ford T8
Well, in the meantime I found a lot of info on this vehicle (courtesy David Doyle).
It seemed that during winter 1941/42 two or four T8's were sent from the US to Canada for testing. Furthermore 2 were supposedly sent to England. Does anybody on MLU know more about this? What was the fate of these vehicles? regards, Nuyt Last edited by nuyt; 06-05-04 at 21:19. |

Mineapolis Moline NTX
Top is added and it should be green but it looks similar with the front and rear grill/fender weights removed.

interesting post
Snowtractor,
Interesting post, thanks. The main difference is I think the fact that the T8 was a rear engine truck and the Minne moline a front engined one. But the chassis must ohterwise be similar.,.. Nuyt |
