11 & 12 Cab FAT (beetle back) roof brackets
Hi
Ever since I got my set of original roof brackets for my 12 cab CGT, I have been meaning to do a construction drawing of them since they are missing on so many, both having been discarded during the war or in post war civilian life. Doing these by hand did not really work out, so instead I have been playing around with the online free 3d rendering site Sketchup. There are of cause some limitations to my skills (I have not tried CAD before) and to the capabilities of Sketchup. But I now have something I can share. The drawing is made base on the set I have and measured in millimeters. Base on mine these where not high finish precision parts. The brackets are used for transporting the 25pr ring platform on the back of the Quad, though I have never seen this in any historical pictures. also in the file is the 2 gallon can bracket, spare wheel carrier (limber/gun) and the hold opens for the hatches. I am still fine tuning the drawing and need to confirm some measures on the tube frame, I chose to go for the strait tube version as seen in the factory photos, in some cases various curved can be found.

There are various file format options I can share the file in.
So if there is any interest, let me know I cant upload the file formats here. The brackets also seem very close to the ones seen on Morris and Guy FAT's

Well done Niels, looking good!
Can you export as Parasolid, Step or Iges? All of these are file formats that can be handled by most 3d programs....with Step probably being the most effective. I would be interested in the files....not for my Chev, but for a scale model.....I plan to do a detailed Cab 12 FAT one day, based on the old Tamiya, but correcting it's flaws.

Hi Niels,
I see Sketchup doesn't give too many options when it comes to file formats for export, but I think STL would be OK for me. When it comes to the Tamiya 1/35 model; I understand the nose it too wide, and I have a hunch Mirror models also used a Tamiya to take measurements from in order to make their own model.
