Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know that I have just received news that one of the well known military vehicle identities in Sydney, Geoff Denniss has passed away. For those wanting further details send me an email. As far as I know it was 1.30am on Saturday morning.

Default Geoff Denniss

Geoff Denniss came over to England in the early 70's for the first Normandy Tours which Peter Gray organised. He was one of the early members of the Military Vehicle Conservation Group (now known as the Military Vehicle Trust). I seem to think he was made either a honorary or life member (checking on this at present).

I first met Geoff in Sydney at the start of Back To The Track in 1995, quite a character! In 1999 he came over with a friend for a visit to England, to attend the MVT 30th anniversary show at Berkeley Castle and War & Peace show at Beltring. At the 30th bash, he surprised many older members who said they thought he had passed on years ago!

He stopped with us at Beltring for the week, in a Bedford OX, thoroughly enjoying the event and meeting many more old friends. He then returned to Beltring again in 2000 and stayed with me for the week. On his return back to Sydney, he was quite poorly, but recovered again. I think Jan said he was at the AMVCS club meeting last week.

Attached is a photo of him at Beltring in 1999

I will finish with the phrase he always signed his letters off with,
"Nil De-Mort De-Quidium"

I have some final details on the Funeral:

Hi all,

The service for Geoff will be held in the "East Chapel" at Rookwood Crematorium, Rookwood, Sydney at 12.00 noon on Friday 14th December The service will go probably for 1 hour.

At the entrance once inside the chapel, there will be a signing register, please sign this as it is for Geoff's family, also there will be another card from military vehicle collectors.

We are booked in at the Campsie RSL at 1.30pm for sandwiches and tea/coffee. They would like approximate numbers so please send Jan [me] a PM, email or phone.

At the RSL we will be in the Eastern Lounge, (near the TAB and pokies).

Members are encouraged to bring their Ex- Military vehicle.
