Cool Treasure in Jeep

Hi,

look what I have found under the Jeep Willys MB petrol tank.
Can somebody help me find the man on the ID tag?

FRITZ, VERNON L.

Hi Radek,

The key is significant, it was the one used for the earlier ignition switch on jeeps.

Default Key

what Richard is saying is that every standard jeep that used a key, used that H700 key (It would fit them all)

Lynn,
I think you will find that key also fitted early Dodge 3/4 ton trucks as well.

Radek, can you post circumstances of the Jeep and so on? As much info as you have. I have contacts in the US who may be able to assist.

I've gone through the US National Archives WWII records to try to find this chap.

Guess what, his enlistment record is on file.

Hope that's of interest.

All the best,
Paul
