Angry A Sad Tale

Hi folks, this is what happens some times to make you angry.
A chap here in Dunedin had a 1942 13 cab F30 in tidy order ,a good runner, nothing really wrong with it.
It was supposed to be one of four built for the New Zealand armed forces for their work at Nandi airport during ww2 .one has not been accounted for, the other two were worked to death in a quarry and buried in a hole there.
These trucks were orderd as tippers and this one was without its original deck, but it was availiable .any way it was wrecked!!!,for no good reason!!!B$#@%$D etc.
I did approach the guy at one stage about putting it back on the road and he said that it will NEVER go back on the road!
So the cab was sold to someone that needed it the transfer box ended up in a portee and the chassis along with the diffs went to the scrap yard!
A rescue attempt is in place (as i write this) for the chassis and diffs to buy it from the scrappy
The chassis is in perfect order with no bursting on the rails

Default idiots

some people are just pig headed idiots
we can only hope he got very little for it
extremely frustrating especially when good vehicles and parts are so hard to find
good luck with the rescue attempt

Default Bits saved

Congratulations on that Ken - can we see a pic?

Reminds me of the 30 or so new cabs destroyed a few years back in Melbourne - the difference being they were mostly rotten from exposure. Many good bits and pieces are on restorations today fortunately. Even Swiss Chris' project will be a beneficiary.

When I can't do anything else I'll film or photograph it - you can see some of the results in Year of the Blitz
