Default August 15th - 16th ........

AH yes the Bob's Beer & BBQ thing.......

As in previous years it will officially start toa slow crawl on Friday late afternoon with BBQ burgers and chicken burgers......and work itself to a full crezendo by Saturday steak supper....BBQed corn on the cob with lots of butter...... ceasar salad and bake potatoes....... and the usual large bonfire and fireworks...... food price may need to escalate to reflect market demand but be assured the fare will be worth it.....and we do not intend to make a profit....!!!

Breakfast at Chez Marie...... wrap up Sunday morning.

Will have the back field partly mowed and fresh water and a porta potty on site....... TP is free!!!!

Camping is primitive but so are CMPs......

NOTE...... will need to know who is coming by latest Aug 8th so we can order the victuals.......

Bring all you can drink.....and drink all that you bring....and only what you bring!!!!!

We are considering setting up an additional Winter shelter...for shade during the day and with the sides installed if some of you wishes to sleep inside the shelter rather than the front seat of your cars.....

Phil Waterman from NH will be with us..... so think of all the technical questions you want to ask him....... he's the man!!!!!

Hoping to attract some of the PQ crowd that are so close in the Montreal area......

Bring your spare parts to trade or sell........

The Rotters are looking forward to seeing you all......

Boob

Oh christ......

How about "as" instead of "with"? Of course in that case, it may well be "as a party of 1.5"...

After going to Chez Marie and the with his mates, I will have to drive his smiling corpse back to T.O. ... so I am a necessary element. Besides, I want to meet everyone ... and hear those stories!

Sally.
I will be very pleased to meet you...I WAS Jif's Official Batman at these BBB events but see now that I have been replaced,by you..his official spider killer.
I drew the line at digging his slit trench ..
Any of the stories he tells you about me are lies...all lies....
But I have lots of interesting TRUE war stories of my 14 years in the RCAF..and Canadian Forces..
Embelished..???maybe..
Lies..Never..

Default S&P at the BBB

Hi Guys:

August will be a crazy month... I have friends from the UK visiting for the first two weeks: they own a bofors and LAAT (Ferd), a 15 cwt (Chiv) and several 90cm searchlights. I will try to get their dates to coincide with BBB.

I have to go back to the Dark Continent in late Aug for a week long recce of southern countries into which we might export our courses. On the way through the UK I will attend an antique railway and military veh event my chum (see para 1) is hosting on the weekend of 22 to 24 Aug.

Add in the price of petrol these days and I'm afarid we won't be able to bring the big convoy we brought last year... perhaps a smaller line up inlcuding the Windsor carrier (arriving next week!) and the CCKW (in the same container!) and at least one thing that goes BOOM!

Mike

I am also advised that Gunner also received his St. John Service medal and bar indicating 17 years service to that venerable organization. Methinks that Gunner is going for the US look (no offence to our many Yank friends).

Default Bars and bars

Damn... shudda kept my big OLD mouth shut!

If Her Majesty sees fit to leave me here for BBB I will happily wet the bars at the bar!

Doesn't Joe Drouin (medal mounter extraordinaire) sell some kind of prop with a little wheel on it... to take the weight off'n the left shoulder? If our Forces get any busier we'll all look like banana republic dictators there'll be so much tin on our left chests! Take a look at a Remembrance Day Parade photo from the 70's and compare to today!

Then there was the volunteer in the red t-shirt who wouldn't give serving soldiers a bag lunch at a certain big ceremony involving the opening of a big building full of old military stuff here in Ottawa... he said, with a straight face, to a serving member with eight medals up, "Sorry, bag lunches are only for Veterans!" The gruff reply was, "What do these look like, kid; beer bottle caps?" Needless to say, bag lunches went out to ALL the Veterans.

Mike

I will be away from the barn from July 24th to Aug 2nd..... for information during my absence contact Grant Bowker..... fellow Rotter par excellence!!!

Rob Clarke should have returned to the Ottawa Valley by August 28th....

'Course, you could always just show up on the 1st of August and wait for it to happen... I'm sure one of the Hammond Triumvirate would find something useful for you to do (other than diddle whomever's waiting tables at Chez Marie)...

I'm still watching you all from afar! I will get to my PMs later, and Bob, I will need a to do list from you before you invade the states. Rest assured that Grant and I will take good care of the barn while you are away...I should be back in Ottawa Saturday - really early.

Cheers, from Dar es Salaam...

That's excellent news, I'm looking forward to seeing both of you and any camp followers you collect along the way to center of the Eastern Ontario CMP universe.
