Hi Guys,
I am looking for some specific Cab 13 pics, the C60X cab 13 to be exact. My current scale modeling project is a C60X and I am scratchbuilding a new 13cab. Although I took hundreds of reference pictures, there is one section that has really got me confused now; the frame under the cab floor. Pictures from Rampent Rivit's and Jordan Baker's restoration logs on the forum have already been very helpful as were the pictures on Keith's website, but I am still not sure how the frame was built up exactly. By the way. Is the cab13 floor identical for the 15cwt, 30, 60cwt? The Ford frame seems to be a little different(?) Alex |

To my knowledge the cab floor in the 13 cab is the same but Ford used a different tread pattern I believe. I do have measurements for the front Ford frame kindly measured by Tony Smith for me. If you want it just let me know and I will find it and email it to you. ![]()

Hi Cliff,
For this project I decided to scratchbuild most of the parts and only use some of the parts from the Italeri kit as a basis. I am currently making a complete new cab and will also make a new chassis, engine, wheels etc. Are you talking about the frame for the cab or the chassis of the truck? The thing I am after are pictures of the actual frame that forms the basis for the cab and not the chassis of the truck itself. I know the chassis, mounting points, cab floor pattern and of course doghouse, dash etc. differ, but I am not sure if the frame under the cab frame is different, Chev vs. Ford. You will understand that I hope to make a cab that is at least partly suitable for future CMP Ford projects and not just for my current Chevy project. The measurements that Tony made for you would be more than welcome ![]() Alex |

Alex,
I'm sure that all C15A, C30A, C60A and the C60X used the same cabs. The C15 and C8 are different in the wheel arches and the C60X has that 1" square tube behind the grill. Thats all GMH cabs in Australia. Regards Rick

Rick, sorry for my late reaction. Thanks for pointing out these differences. To add to the discussion, I have posted the pictures that are keeping me busy, below:
Rampant Rivet's C15: Than Jordan Baker's C15A:" And Plushy's F15: ![]() RR's C15 frame seems to be different from other Chev frames in a way that the bar from left to right under the seats, seems to placed far more to the front than with a C15A, C60 etc. Also the bar on the right hand of the engine seems to be missing. This would also mean the floorboards on a C15 are different from the other Chev's(?) Alex |

The Ford frame is different due to a different length motor and Gearbox plus a difference in mounting them too with the rear Ford mount at the rear of the box. But it appears to me that the two top Chev frames are the same and it is only the different photo angles that make it seem as though they are different. On the second photo if you draw the front edge of the bar to the side it looks a very similar distance from the door curve in both photos.

Guys,
I really need your help, because my head is spinning trying to get a clear view of the Chev Cab 13 floor. Can anyone tell me how much different panels it takes to make one floor? I thought: 5, One left foodwell, one right foodwell, two panels at the rear that range from under the seats to the rear of the cab. and one around the shift tower. Is that correct? Or is the rear panel one piece covering the cab from one door to the other? Regarding the C60X I have another question. The grille has been spaced outward by one inch. Does this also mean the radiator is moved forward, compared to other Chev's? Alex

The rad is moved forward to accomodate the 270CI engine ,which is a little longer than the 216 Engine that would go in the other Chev CMP's..so they added an Inch extension and mounted the grill an inch forward, which is normal for the C 60X.. Alex Formally, Mr Manual

Alex
I was under the impression with the Holden built CMP cabs that there were 3 basic cabs , 2 wheel drive , 4 wheel drive and the C 60x , the C60x appears to have a larger hole in the floor to accommodate the engine and g/box . Have attached a pic of a C15 wireless van in which the cab is part of the body but the underfloor cab area should be similar. Regards Jim S.

Alex and Jim, Thanks!
So, they moved the radiator forward and fitted a 1 inch spacer between the grill and nose, to fit the larger engine. This way the standard doghouse and (most of the) floor plan, as well was the structure of the cab could be used.(?) Jim, that shot is great! You rarely see the bottom of a cab, and this one shows some great details, like the extra frame bar on the left of the engine, while there isn't one on the right hand side. Also fascinating to see that they did retain the rounded corners of the rear cab wall, while the body is a van type one. Thanks guys, Alex
