Default MY F8, No. 11 has arrived!

Some 8 weeks after the seller received my payment, my truck arrived today! My sole comment on the transaction is this: It was handled with less than ethical standards by both the seller(s) and the shipping broker. After 15 days sitting in a wrecking yard in Detroit I was able to use a private shipper who one the the nicest hardest working people I have met in a long time!

Although the eBay listing, on which the transaction was based, stated that the motor was in parts and needed to be reassembled, all I received was an engine block (no heads or other parts) and a radiator, both of which are unuseable. Unfortunately being some 2,500 miles from the truck's location I was unable to look it over before buying it. My bad! Got my reward for poaching a Canadian vehicle and having it shipped to Arizona!

On the other hand all of the body parts are present and in fairly good order. It's definitely a restorable vehicle. One tire blew out while loading it but gortunately a spare was included in the deal and it looks like it'll do for awhile. While changing the tire it became evident that the king pins are shot as well as the front wheel bearings. Any words of wisdom on how I can replace would be greatly appreciated.

Have attached a couple of pictures including one of a number found on the front cross member that includes the front motor mounts, 01T 5020. Lost the thread that covered that so some help on identifying what year it was made would be helpful. Also there was a military symbol on the right front fender. Any help in identifying which unit it belong to would also be appreciated.

Enough for now!

Regards,
Jim

Congratulations Jim, even given the state of your engine! You know you will find tremendous support here as you progress with your restoration. What you need we will find!

Speaking of which, don't worry too much about the power plant right now... they're available all over the place. If you have some workable body metal you're ahead of the game! Good luck, and keep us posted with lots of pics!

If memory serves the Queens Own Rifle's from Toronto used a similar symbol. It was a red club on a white circle.

Congrats on the purchase. However, for future ref, you had best realize the following e-bay terminology:

"All original and 100% there" = means that whatever is there is whatever is there and that everything there is what was there when the photos were taken. You may or may not get all of it.

"Listing for a seller who is not on ebay (or computer savvy or some other excuse)" = I won't feel liable for whatever happens to the buyer and your on your own. Doesn't matter if I have 100% feedback, satisfaction on your part will not be my concern.

"I don't know much about these vehicles so the buyer must make an informed decision" = BUYER BEWARE

"Great condition for it's age" = rustbucket; likely beyond salvage.

I have been burned twice on ebay when the seller was not the seller, but rather a middleman. Seems like the real seller feels there is nothing wrong with selling off portions of the item before the auction ends and shortchanging you. I actually had one start renegotiating the price with me on a lot of military stuff because he was expecting a lot more. Then, when I was shortchanged a bunch of stuff, and repeatedly complained, most of it was magically found and he even overcharged me to ship the balance to me.

Anyway, sorry to be hijacking this thread so I can vent.

Default Where are the pics ?

Great Jim

Can you please post some piccies of the truck ? Your F8 must be the only example south of the Mason Dixon line .. Is that correct ?

Sounds like it has the 1A1 or 2 tub fitted on it ?

Mike
