Bill,

I have no idea what it is, but comparing your picture with pictures on this site, I think you're probably right.

Keep at it!

Hanno:

It is indeed a very, very small world!!!!

I spent two hours going through various books on automotive history I have, my entire Czech vehicle photo file and a number of books and magazines trying to find something similar.

Finally started hitting my bookmarked websites and ended up on the exact same one you linked, exact same page. With a lot of fiddling with my "Photo Wizard" software I was able to get two good images of the two similar drophead coupes and was able to compare what I call ID clues and make the identification. Much as you and others here do with CMP vehicles. This was taught to me by Bart Vanderveen over many years. Later today I will try to link you to the thread in question where I explain the ID clues for this one.

Bill

Hanno:

The phantom image just appeared again. Did you do this, for sure I did not as I was not allowed to shift the pic.?
If not you, I will contact the webmaster at that site to try to figure out why the image is available from time to time.

Default If I can type correctly so late at night.

Try this:

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=7334

If the link works, you will see how I arrived at my ID.

Bill,

What you did was making a link to a file from another site. Some sites do not want you to do this. Instead of the picture selected by you, they show a text stating that it is not allowed to link to pictures on their site like so:

If, however, your computer has already temoparily stored (cached) the image on your hard drive because you have looked at the image already, it will show up as intended. As soon as your computer deletes the temporary files, the "you may not link" textbox appears again.

The easiest way around this is making a link to the picture in question so it will pop up in a separate window whenever people click on it.
If that does not work, save the picture to your hard disk and attach it to your message here. There's always a way to beat them

I hope I explained this in an understandable way. Steep learning curve, but you're doing great

Hanno

Thanks Hanno

I get it right about 90% of the time now. I am blessed with gradually failing eyesight up close and I sometimes misread instructions by just the tiniest bit or I mistype some of the more complicated instructions. I did purchase trifocal eye glasses but they give me such a headache I rarely use them.

Just as a thought, I have bookmarked probably several hundred military history sites since January 1st when I decided at age 63 if I didn't get back into this hobby I was going to run out of time. I don't know if you are interested in Chev/Ford/Dodge vehicles other than CMPs but I have downloaded hundreds of photos from these sites of such vehicles. Not many CMPs but lots of really fascinating shots from all over the world. Let me know if you are interested in seeing some of them. I also do a lot of ID work for these sites like the Aero deal. No one wants to do the research so I am having fun.

My pleasure, Bill

Sorry to hear about your eyesight - it's a "blessing" which comes with age, I guess

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind, but I am busy enough as it is with CMPs and Sherman tanks!
