North Novie shoulder flash change

I should know this,but I forgot the specifics. There are pics of NNSH's in France on D-Day/D-Day+1 and on with the canvas shoulder flashes,but when were the changes to melton made? Love to have an original canvas if anyone has one! Yeah,I know...
