Default Dumb CMP question #1 -generator

Having got well along with wiring my F8 using Macs Auto harnesses, how can I tell if the generator is providing the voltage that it should - with a small multimeter which is about as sophisticated as my kit gets?! I guess checking on the output of the voltage reg would be another related question.

Default voltage

A good starting point is to measure the charging voltage at the battery terminals..if its a 6V system ..you'll want about 7.8 volts or slightly higher at the battery terminals.
