Go to the G503 forum, and read without stopping for about a month.
If you want to know more after that (and you will) then keep reading. There is a lot there. WWII Jeeps have been done, inside out, and back to front, a bit like a nose, most people have one, so the G503 is probably the most detailed M.V. site there is. As far as your light switch goes, Is you dash panel original? Your light switch should be the most left switch on your panel. cheers.

It sounds like your Jeep might have been modified? A 42 Jeep doesn't have an ignition key. It has a toggle switch. The key was omitted after the keys for the earlier Jeeps were repeatedly being lost or taken away from the vehicle by GI's and Squaddies.
The light switch is the strange knob affair just above the indicator switch (with red light) in my Jeep. It's designed so that you can't accidentally put the headlamps on in a blackout situation. Ron |
