Default Ottarotters get together - gracies call

If only to keep Alex from blowing a blood vessel, here is the much anticipated Gracies Call in honour of our visitor from the far west:

Thursday 10 March 2011 at the East End Gracies on Olgivie Road. Sorry, Clive. No recce, no deployment west...

Kick off at 5PM - just look for Alex...

I might be a little late for that 5pm timing. The schedule has us working until 5 and we're scheduled for the gas huts that afternoon, so I might need to freshen up a bit after work. Especially with all that newfangled chicken fat decam sauce they use.

I see by google that it is about 1/2 hour or so away, so I would anticipate being there between 5:45 and 6pm. If Ed or someone else from the Kanata area is going perhaps I could spring a ride with him, and save me the "tourist adventure" of driving in circles.

Let me know.

As the crow flies it is only 30 minutes away....but at 5 oclock.... could be an hour ++ easy..... and this is in good weather......

Having spent more of my life on the 417 than bars I know it ain't easy!!!

Get a ride with Eric..... ask him if you can play with the siren and flashing red lights....hihihi

I will travel from downtown to Gracies and that will take me at least 30 minutes..........

Not a problem. We will be there tanning the legs of the young lasses with our ogling/leering/eyeballing/looking/espying/gawking/peering/peeking/staring...just make sure you tell us you have arrived.

See you Wednesday.

Hi Rob..
I'm back in Ottawa and I can get you home if someone can pick you up..I have a Wed afternoon appointment elsewhere and am the recce/point man for the thrash so try to be at least 15 minutes early to establish our territority..There are always perps and intruders that try to hog the turf..especially notorious are teachers sneaking off early for a few "wets" before heading home..Just about impossible to hold them off on Friday night without a squad of infantry to assist..
But I can get you home..My evening appointments don't start til after 10PM...
ZZZZZZZzzzzzz......

Thanks for the offer Alex, but I have the rented car, and am getting used to driving on roads that are more than two lanes wide, and at speeds greater than 80kmh like the norm in Manitoba. Made it all the way from Connaught to Prefair today including the "blizzard" in Montreal in just under 3 hours. Pretty amazing what people out here consider a blizzard. Back in Manitoba, with the amount of snow I saw coming down today, we just call that a Monday morning.

No need to apologize. It happens to a lot of older folk. They show up on the wrong night then fall asleep in their chairs.

But that's because the stage coach only went through town twice a week in those days

Default When love came to town

A distinguished group of truck nuts got together tonight at Gracies. We had two, yes two visitors from afar. Rob Love took some time away from his work up/ pre-deployment training at Connaught Ranges (located on the eastern edge of Kanata), to join us. When not fiddling with green things back in frozen Manitoba, Rob takes extended tours of exotic locales in far away lands.

Robin Craig drove from Kingston on the eve of a snowstorm - that's dedication, but then again, he is used to "working" in the snow.

Both of our visitors enjoyed Gracie's food, drink and the eye candy. I am sure that they will chime in with their own observations later on.

As usual, Bob Carriere, Grant Bowker, Clive Law, Gille and Carole Chartrand made their appearance and added to the general beer-fuelled CMP/SMP converstation. Alex was particularly quiet this evening... I suspect something is up.

Our server this evening was the lovely Leeanne, a neophyte when it comes to Rotters.

While somewhat a subdued evening, all enjoyed themselves. Hopefully everyone makes it home without too much difficulty. It is snowing like a bast*rd!

Photos:
1- Left side: Carole, Robin, Clive Right side - Gilles, Rob L, Grant and Bob
2 -Same crew, different view
3 -Leeanne wondering just what she has got herself into. Surprisingly, Clive's hands are visible...

Nice putting more names to faces, and having a good evening of talking military with like minded folks. Noticed a slight amount of snow on the rental when I went back to the parking lot at 9. Not sure I would call it anything more than a light sprinkling, although it sure seemed to effect the speed at which Ontarions drive.

Thanks for the hospitality and I hope I can return the favor some day in the future.

Made the trip in 20 minutes. It would have been even quicker if your province allowed U turns. Going home took a little longer mind you.

A very enjoyable meeting. Well worth the drive and managed to collect a sewing machine from Eric B as well, a bonus for the trip, and see my daughter at her late night job, even if she did relieve me of some cash, but what are kids for.

Had wanted to quiz Alex on a few items but as he wasnt there, no doubt with just cause, it will have to wait.

As others have said, good to put names to faces, glad Rob Love could make it in from Connaught.

Made it back to Gananoque with no trouble tonight, as Rob said a minor sprinkling as far as I was concerned.

Robin
